Embodied Script

Before words.

Long before these signs appeared in my paintings, they already existed in my notebooks.

As a child, I filled pages with this instinctive writing without knowing why.

It was simply there.

Years later, it naturally found its way onto canvas.

I don’t think of it as an alphabet.

Nor as something to decipher.

It is simply another way of listening.

Sometimes it stands on its own.

Sometimes it quietly weaves through the painting.

Always before words.
